1. Agreement: These rules govern the Wheels.ca/travelalerts.ca contest (“Contest”).  No purchase is necessary to enter the Contest.  The act of entering the Contest constitutes acceptance of the Contest rules and the decisions of the Contest judges, which decisions shall be final and binding upon all entrants.  

2. Sponsors: The Contest Sponsors are Toronto Star Newspapers Limited, Wheels.ca, and Travelwire Inc. which operates the TravelAlerts.ca.website.

3. Eligibility: The Contest is open to residents of Canada (excluding Quebec) 18 years of age and older except for employees, their immediate families and anyone living with any employee of the Sponsors or their corporate affiliates, advertising or promotional agencies.  

4. Contest: To enter the Contest, access the Contest website at  www.wheels.ca/win, click the “enter now” link to enter the contest and fill in subsequent form with required information, including full name, address, and day time telephone number. Entrants may also enter in-person at the Toronto Star/Wheels.ca booth at the 2010 Toronto International Auto show. read these Contest rules, and follow the instructions to enter during the Contest period (a valid email address will be required). Contest begins at 6:00 a.m. ET on Thursday, February 11, 2010, and ends at 11:59 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 31, 2010 (the “Contest Period”). The potential winner will be chosen by random draw, which will take place at 590 King Street West, Suite 400, Toronto, Ontario M5V 1M3) on or about April 1, 2010 at 10:00am ET.  The potential winner will be contacted by telephone or email by a representative of the Sponsor, and must reply within 48 hours to maintain eligibility.  If the potential winner cannot be contacted within this time period or fails to respond to any attempted contact, such potential winner will be disqualified, his/her entry will be declared null and void and the Sponsors reserve the right, in their sole and absolute discretion, to select at random another eligible entry, in which event these provisions shall apply to such other eligible entry.  In order to be eligible to win, the potential winner must correctly answer a mathematical skill-testing question, without assistance or mechanical or electronic aid.  

5. Prize:

One (1) Grand Prize consisting of a voucher in the amount of CDN$2500 (the “Prize”), to be used towards the purchase of a trip for two to a Caribbean destination of the winner’s choice on the Travelalerts.ca website. The winner and his/her guest must depart from the same Canadian airport of origin and must go to the same Caribbean destination during the same travel period.  Travel must be completed in 2010.  All costs and expenses in excess of the $2500 Prize are the sole responsibility of winner and his/her travel partner, including without limitation all gratuities, other transportation, other entertainment, merchandise, souvenirs, local and long distance telephone calls, medical expenses and vaccinations, taxes, travel and cancellation insurance, travel visas and all personal expenses of any kind.  Winner and travel partner must have all the necessary identification and documents to permit travel.  It is recommended that the winner and travel partner obtain sufficient personal insurance prior to departure.  No responsibility is assumed by the Contest Sponsors for cancelled, delayed, suspended or rescheduled events or travel after ticketing for any reason whatsoever beyond its control.  Transportation and accommodations are subject to availability, government restrictions and regulations, hotel, airline, airport or other transportation restrictions and regulations.  Other restrictions may apply.  Winner and travel partner will be required to travel together, on the same itinerary.  If the winner is unable or unwilling to accept or otherwise redeem the prize on the terms it is awarded, the prize shall be forfeited and no cash or substitutes will be provided in whole or in part.

 
6. Release:  Prior to receiving the prize, the winner and his/her travel partner will be required to show valid photo ID and to sign a declaration of eligibility and release form releasing the Sponsors and their related parties from any and all liability in connection with the Contest and/or the prize, confirming compliance with the rules and consenting to the use of his or her name and photograph, without further compensation, in any publicity carried out by the Sponsors and/or their advertising and promotional agencies.  The signed form must be received by Sponsors within 48 hours of notification or the prize may be forfeited and awarded to an alternate entrant.

7. Privacy:  We use your personal contact information to administer this Contest, including contacting, announcing and promoting prize winners.  In addition, we may use this information to send you offers or information from us, our affiliates and from selected sponsors or advertisers (“Marketing Offers”). If you do not wish to receive Marketing Offers, you may opt-out at any time by: following the instructions at the bottom of any email Marketing Offer you receive, informing your telemarketer at the time you are called with a Marketing Offer, by calling 1-866-287-6732 or 514-313-7805 and requesting that your personal information not be used for Marketing Offers, or emailing privacyofficer@metroland.com and requesting that your personal information not be used for Marketing Offers.  The Contest is run in compliance with the Wheels.ca and Travelalerts.ca privacy codes, which may be found in full at www.wheels.ca and www.travelalerts.ca respectively.  

8. Banning:  The Sponsors may, in their sole discretion, prohibit any person from entering the Contest whom they believe to be abusing the rules.  Such abuse includes entering false information and entering more than once.

9. Other:  Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.  This Contest is governed by the laws of Ontario and the laws of Canada applicable therein and is void where prohibited by law.  The Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify the Contest or the Contest rules at any time without notice.  All prizes must be accepted as awarded, are non-transferable and are not convertible to cash.  The Sponsors reserve the right to substitute any prize or portion of the prize with a prize of equal or greater value.  All prizes are awarded as-is and no warranties or guarantees are implied or expressed, beyond the standard manufacturer's warranty.  Sponsors are not liable for any lost, late, misdirected or stolen entries or inability to process entries, or any errors, damage or negligence that may arise in connection with this Contest, including technical failures on the website or Contest software, viruses, website disruptions, malfunctions or website down-time, human error or property damage incurred by any Contest entrant.  Sponsors are not responsible for any errors or omissions in printing or advertising this Contest.  Use of any automated system including robotic or form filling software to enter or participate in this Contest is prohibited and will result in disqualification of all entries by anyone using such assistance. If a dispute arises regarding who submitted an online entry, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address provided at time of entry. Authorized account holder is the natural person who is assigned to an email address by an Internet access provider, online service provider, or other organization responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address.
